Vanilla Creme Brulee
|Single cream||1 Pint|
|Caster sugar||2 Tablespoon (Vanilla Flavored If Possible)|
|Granulated sugar/Caster sugar||3 Tablespoon (For Caramel Top)|
Put the cream into a double saucepan and bring to the boil.
Meanwhile beat caster sugar and egg yolks together.
Pour the hot cream into this mixture, return all to the double boiler and stir until it thickens.
Put it into a greased fireproof dish and cook in a very slow oven for about 20-30 minutes.
The cream should now be thoroughly set.
Remove from oven and allow it to get cold.
Sprinkle granulated or caster sugar thickly and smoothly over the surface.
Put it under a very hot grill until the sugar turns brown and melts.
Remove from heat and allow it to cool.
This dish is best when chilled for an hour or so before serving.
