Bengali Raw Jackfruit Curry
|Raw jackfruit flesh||500 Gram, cut into meat like chunks|
|Onions||3 Large, finely chopped|
|Black pepper powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Clove powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Cinnamon powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Dried ginger powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Turmeric powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Red chilli powder||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|All spice/Bay leaves||3|
Place the cut jackfruit pieces into boiling salted water and cook till soft. Drain the water.
Cook the finely chopped onions in 1/2 cup of pure ghee over a medium flame till soft and pink. Add the All-spice or Bay leaves and then lower the flame and add all the powdered spices. Stir well for 2 minutes, add 2 cups of water and the salt and sugar and bring to a boil. Add the jackfruit pieces and allow to simmer for 20 minutes.
Whisk the curds, add it to the jackfruit and simmer for a further 5 minutes before serving with ghee-rice.
