Crisp Cucumber Rings

Ingredients
  Long slender cucumbers 9
  Onions 5 Medium
  Salt 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Soaked in brine and brine discarded)
  Vinegar 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Sugar 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Mustard seed 2 Teaspoon
  Celery seed 2 Teaspoon
  Hot sauce 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

Wash and dry the cucumbers, then slice without paring.
Peel and slice the onions; add to cucumbers.
Combine the salt with 2 cups water and pour over vegetables.
Let stand for 3 hours, than drain and discard liquid.
Combine the vinegar, sugar and spices in a kettle and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved.
Add the cucumbers and onions and boil for 5 minutes.
Add the hot sauce and pack at once into hot sterilized jars, covering completely with liquid.
Seal.
