I've been making this Oatmeal in the Crock Pot for as long as I can remember. It's one of the recipes everyone in the family can agree on in the morning, is inexpensive and can be doctored up any way you like it. We top ours with everything from hemp seeds, to berries, sliced bananas, chopped walnuts, maple syrup, honey and more. As we head back to school this week I thought it would give you a recharge into simple breakfast ideas for your family!

Ingredients

Steel cut oats 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Milk 2 1/2 Cup (40 tbs)
Cinnamon powder 1 Teaspoon

Directions

MAKING:

1.1. Place the first 4 ingredients in a crock pot and stir to combine.

2. Cook the oatmeal on low heat for 5-9 hours (the amount of time can vary depending on your crock pot. Some crock pots that dont have non stick surfaces can get hotter then others).

SERVING:

3. Stir in desired accompaniments and serve.

ACCOMPANIMENTS:

Honey, maple syrup, walnuts and or raisins

* I like to let the kids squeeze in their own honey to get them involved and swirl in a bit of extra milk to cool it down for them.
