Baked Cornbread

Ingredients
  Yellow corn meal 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sifted flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Baking powder 4 Teaspoon
  Egg 1
  Milk/1 12 cup buttermilk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), soft
Directions

Add dry ingredients into a bowl and stir together. Add egg, milk, and shortening. Mix ingredients with a spoon or egg beater until smooth for about 1 minute (don't over-stir or beat). Bake in a greased 8 inch square pan (round pan works too) on 425 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly golden. Enjoy warm with butter, chili, or in Thanksgiving dressing!
