Raised Corn Bread

Ingredients
  Buttermilk 1 Cup (16 tbs), scalded
  Sugar 3 Tablespoon
  Dry yeast 1⁄2 Ounce (2 Packages)
  Cornmeal 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Whole wheat flour 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Instant nonfat dry milk 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Wheat germ 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Eggs 2 , beaten
  Bacon drippings 3 Tablespoon
Directions

Mix the buttermilk and sugar and cool to lukewarm.
Add the yeast and stir until dissolved.
Sift cornmeal, whole wheat flour, salt and milk together and stir in wheat germ.
Add eggs and drippings to milk mixture and mix well.
Stir in the cornmeal mixture.
Pour into a greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.
Bake in 350-degree oven for 30 minutes.
