Grandma'S Corn Bread

Ingredients
  Shortening/Butter / margarine 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Egg 1 , slightly beaten
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Corn meal 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sifted flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Baking powder 3 Teaspoon
  Milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 1 Tablespoon (For Baking Pan)
Directions

1. Start oven, set at Hot, 425° F. Grease an 8-inch square pan.
2. Cream the shortening, butter or margarine, add the sugar, egg and salt and mix thoroughly.
3. Sift the flour with the baking powder and combine with the corn meal. Add alternately to the creamed mixture with the milk.
4. Bake about 30 minutes.
