Upside Down Sausage Corn Bread

Ingredients
  Small pork sausages 1⁄2 Pound
  Sifted all-purpose flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Yellow corn meal 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Baking powder 3 Teaspoon
  Egg 1 , slightly beaten
  Milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Melted shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Mashed banana 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
Directions

Fry sausages until partially cooked just to remove excess fat.
Arrange in a lightly greased 8-inch-square bake pan.
Sift dry ingredients together into a bowl.
Stir in a well-combined mixture of egg, milk, shortening, banana.
Beat until smooth, approximately 1 minute.
Pour batter over sausages and bake at 425 F for 20 to 25 minutes.
Invert pan and turn out, cut in squares.
Accompany with butter and syrup.
