|All purpose flour||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs) (sifted)|
|Baking powder||3 Teaspoon|
|Cornmeal||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Stir in cornmeal.
Add egg, milk, and shortening and beat until smooth.
Pour batter into an oiled 8-inch square pan.
Bake in a 400°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
