|Cornmeal||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Sour milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Shortening||2 Tablespoon, melted|
Sift flour, corn meal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt together into a large mixing bowl.
In a medium-sized bowl beat the egg.
Add the sour milk to the egg and blend together well.
Add milk mixture to flour mixture.
Stir to combine.
Add melted shortening to flour-milk mixture and beat well.
Pour into an 8-inch, round, heat-resistant, non-metallic baking dish.
Microwave, uncovered, on medium for 7 to 8 minutes or until done.
