|Sifted flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Cornmeal||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Sour milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Vegetable shortening||2 Tablespoon, melted|
Sift flour, corn meal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt together into a large mixing bowl.
In a medium sized bowl beat the egg.
Add the sour milk to the egg and blend together well.
Add milk mixture to flour mixture.
Stir to combine.
Add melted shortening to flour-milk mixture and beat well.
Pour into an 8 inch, round, heat resistant, non metallic baking dish.
Heat, uncovered, on roast for 9 to 10 minutes or until done.
