Well, you are not a child anymore so it is well within your means to rustle up your very own version of Almond Joys at home. If you have kids at home, this could be the best thing to do for them over a weekend. However, while making this delicious candy at home, make sure that you take care of the following tips:
Whisk, Whisk, Whisk!!!
Since you have to mix all the ingredients, you should mix them well. A thick mixture without any lumps is what you should have to begin with. If there are any lumps remaining in the mixture, it will kill the final product.
Before you start to roll out or cut out bars out of the mixture, refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes. It will be easier for you work your way with a refrigerated mix.
The Almond Joy bars need to be of the right size and shape. Before you dip the bars into chocolate, press them down slowly, so that there are no cracks left. You can start by making bars that are 2 inches long and about three quarters of an inch wide in size.
One problem that you may face while making bars or dipping them with hands is the stickiness that may make it difficult to work. Just rinse your hands thoroughly in between working on batches.
The melted chocolate to be used for dipping the bars should not be allowed to cool down, otherwise it will become too thick and the texture of your Almond Joy bars will not be what you want it to be. Once your melted chocolate starts to get cold, just turn on the flame and let it heat up slowly.
Once your candy bars are ready, don’t forget to refrigerate them immediately, otherwise, the bars will lose their shape.
