  2. Wash in cold water and put them on kitchen towels to dry.

  3. Get a sheet of aluminum foil and place the garlic cloves on it.

  4. Season with salt, pepper, and olive oil. If desired balsamic vinegar can be added.

  5. Warp garlic on aluminum foil. Warp this packet in another aluminum foil piece to ensure that garlic does not get burned.

  6. Clean and preheat gas grill to medium-high temperature.

  7. Once hot, reduce heat to medium temperature and place garlic packets inside the grill. Make sure that they are not exposed to direct heat.

  8. Let cook for about 40 to 45 minutes. Keep changing position of garlic packets intermittently to facilitate even cooking.

  9. Garlic is ready when they become soft and attains a caramelized taste and texture.

  10. Open the packets to check for the same.


Alternately, garlic cloves and be threaded onto wooden skewers and then grilled.

  1. It is difficult to control temperature in a gas grill and hence it is advisable to turn off two of the burners to maintain required temperature.

  2. Garlic tastes bitter when burnt hence make sure that the packets are placed away from direct heat.

  3. Store garlic cooked on the gas grill for up to 3 or 4 days in airtight zip-lock bags in refrigerator.

  4. If the heat is too high inside the grill, place garlic pouches on the top rack.
