How to Cook Steel Cut Oats in Crockpot?

If you like trying new stuff in the kitchen then you would definitely want to learn how to cook steel cut oats in Crockpot! Trust me it is not as hard as you think. With the right Crockpot recipe and high quality Steel Cut oats you might just get yourself a yummy bowl of healthy Oats treat.  The preparation might take 5 minutes or less but the cooking will take close to 8 hours. Here is how you can cook steel cut oats in crockpot:


Delicious and healthy Steel Cut Oats cooked in the crockpot

Steel cut oatmeal  - 2 cups
Water  -  5 cups
Milk  - 1-1/2 cups
Brown Sugar  - 3/4 cup
Cinnamon  - 1 Tbsp.
Kosher Salt  - 1 tsp.
Bananas  - 2 large, sliced
Chopped Pecans  - 1 cup
Maple Syrup


Spray your Crockpot stoneware with cooking spray.

Put in your oats, milk, water, brown sugar, cinnamon and Kosher salt in the Crockpot.

Cover the Crockpot and cook on low flame for 8-10 hours.

Before serving the Crockpot, stir in the sliced bananas and chopped pecans. Sweeten it up with some maple syrup.


Don’t use rolled oats in place of steel cut oats in the Crockpot as they tend to get mushy in the Crockpot. Also, steel cut oats are less processed than rolled oats.

Steel cut oatmeal is also called Irish oatmeal or Scottish oatmeal.

McCann's and Quaker – both these brands produce steel cut oatmeal.

Instead of bananas you can also add finely chopped apple and some ground cinnamon.
