How to toast almonds without oil or butter - fat free cookingAlmonds are one of the most popular nuts which are used in everyday cooking. Those who know how to toast almonds are able to add an intense flavor to several of their muffins, bread and cake recipes. Toasted almonds can be purchased but are expensive and it is not economical to purchase them every time you need to use them.

Toasting almonds is a very simple process – just do the following to have toasted almonds of your choice.

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degree F. If you heat your oven below this temperature, it will take longer time for the almonds to get heated which will in turn cause them to become brown.
Step 2: You can now put all the almonds in one layer on a baking sheet which shouldn’t be greased. You should not grease it because the high temperature is enough to bring out the oil from the almonds. This is also a type of low fat cooking.
Tip: Remember to use almonds which are of the same size because if they are of different sizes, there is a huge risk of burning some of these almonds.
Step 3: Now, you can slowly put your baking sheet inside the oven.
Step 4: You can now bake these almonds for 15 minutes at least. Remember to open the oven once in between, to shake the cookie sheet so that all almonds are turned and toasted.
Step 5: Keep checking till the almonds turn light brown – this means your almonds are now ready.
Step 6: Remove from the oven and use it as you wish.
