White Sugar Cookies
|Butter||1 Cup (16 tbs) (2 Sticks, At Room Temperature)|
|Sugar||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , beaten|
|Sifted flour||5 Cup (80 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 Teaspoon|
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Cream the butter and sugar.
Add the eggs, milk and vanilla and mix well.
Sift together about three cups of the flour and the baking powder.
Stir into the creamed mixture.
Add enough additional flour to make a stiff dough.
Shape the dough into four balls and chill.
Roll each ball of dough on a floured surface to one quarter inch thickness and cut into desired shape.
If desired, decorate with raisins or nuts or sprinkle with cinnamon or colored sugar.
Place on ungreased cooky sheets one half inch apart and bake until no imprint remains when a cooky is pressed gently, about twelve minutes.
Decorate as desired.
Store in a tightly sealed container.
