|Shortening/Butter||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Light brown sugar||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , beaten|
|Almond flavoring||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|All purpose flour||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Baking powder||3 Teaspoon|
|Blanched almonds||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Cream shortening, add sugar, add beaten eggs and flavorings.
Sift flour, salt, baking powder and add to mixture.
Add nuts and mix thoroughly.
Make into two long rolls about 2 1/2 to 3 inches across.
Roll in waxed paper and store in refrigerator at least overnight.
Slice thin and bake on greased cooky sheets at 400F for about eight minutes.
I add for variety 6 cherries cut fine and half a cup of dessicated coconut.
