Ingredients
  Flour 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shortening 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Eggs 2
  Milk 2 Tablespoon
  Vanilla extract 2 Teaspoon
  Pecans 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
  Dates 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped
  Maraschino cherries 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs), chopped
  Cornflakes 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs), crushed
Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together into a bowl.
Combine the shortening, sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla in a separate mixing bowl and beat well.
Add the flour mixture; mix well.
Stir in the pecans, dates and cherries.
Shape the dough into 3/4 inch balls and roll in cornflakes.
Place on a non stick cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
Press a maraschino cherry half into each warm cookie.
Let cool.
