Spiced Oat Drops
|Shortening||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Brown sugar||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , beaten|
|Cake flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 Teaspoon|
|Sour milk||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Rolled oats||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Raisins||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped (or dates)|
|Nuts||1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped|
Cream shortening and sifted sugar together.
Add beaten eggs and mix well.
Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with sour milk to the creamed mixture.
Add rolled oats, fruit and nuts.
Drop by teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet and bake in a moderate oven (350Â°F.) 15 minutes.
Makes 64 2 inch cookies.
Will keep well in a closed jar.
Sweet milk may be used instead of sour milk and the soda omitted.
