|Hazelnuts||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), shelled (or walnuts)|
|Butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Brown sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|

Set 16 nuts aside.
Place remaining nuts on a baking tray and cook in a conventional oven, 350Â°F, until the skins loosen and the inner nut is turning golden.
Rub in a towel to remove skins.
Then grind nuts in a grater or coffee grinder.
Beat butter in a bowl and beat in the sugar.
Add the nuts, sifted flour, and salt.
Roll into 16 balls and pat out with a wet fork in 2 flat-bottomed greased baking dishes.
Set a nut in the center of each.
Cook 1 dish at a time on "simmer" setting for about 5 minutes.
Cool before removing from dish.
Dust with confectioner's sugar.
