Traditional Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  Shortening 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), softened (Part Butter Or Margarine, Softened)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Eggs 2
  Vanilla/1 teaspoon lemon extract 1 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
Directions

Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, eggs and flavoring.
Blend in flour, baking powder and salt.
Cover; chill at least 1 hour.
Heat oven to 400°.
Roll dough 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured cloth-covered board.
Cut into desired shapes.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until very light brown.
