Sesame Seed Cookies

Ingredients
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Water 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Lemon slices 2
  Butter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), melted
  Margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), melted
  Eggs 3 Small
  Flour 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Baking powder 2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Pinch
  Water 2 Tablespoon
  Sesame seeds 1⁄2 Pound
  Chopped pistachio nuts 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
Directions

Make a syrup by combining the sugar with the water in a saucepan.
Bring to a boil over high heat.
Reduce heat and simmer for about 5 to 7 minutes, stirring.
Remove from heat, add the lemon slices and set aside to cool.
Meanwhile, combine the butter and margarine in a mixing bowl.
Gradually stir in the sugar and beat well.
Beat in the eggs until well blended.
In a separate bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
Stir into the butter mixture, mixing well.
Add the water and knead until a fairly firm dough is formed.
Shape the dough into walnut-sized balls.
Flatten slightly, brush with the syrup and dip into a combined mixture of the sesame seeds and pistachio nuts.
Arrange the cookies on lightly greased baking sheets about one inch apart.
Bake about 7 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
Transfer to wire racks to cool.
