Molasses Cookies

Ingredients
  Unsifted all purpose flour 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Baking soda 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ginger 1 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Dark molasses 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Buttermilk/Sour milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Vanilla extract 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

Combine flour, soda, spices and salt.
Cream butter or margarine until fluffy, and add sugar gradually, continuing to cream.
Add egg, and beat well.
Stir in molasses.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, a little at a time, incorporating thoroughly after each addition.
Add vanilla.
Place bowl of batter in refrigerator 1-2 hours to firm dough.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased sheets.
Bake in 375°F oven 8-10 minutes.
Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
