|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Maple syrup||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Maple flavoring||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Chopped dates||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Chopped pecans||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together.
Cream butter and shortening together; add eggs, maple syrup and maple flavoring.
Blend in dry ingre- dients, mixing well.
Add 1/4 cup boiling water; mix well.
Stir in dates and pecans.
Chill for at least 1 hour.
Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes.
