|Shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Margarine||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Granulated sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sifted flour||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Old fashioned rolled oats||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
Cream shortening, margarine and sugars until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla.
Sift flour with soda and salt.
Stir in thoroughly until blended.
Add oats approximately 1/4 cup at a time and mix well.
Form into small (1-inch) balls.
Place at least 2-inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
Allow to cool several minutes and then remove from baking sheet with spatula.
Yield: About 5 dozen cookies.
