|All purpose flour||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Shortening||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sugar||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Well beaten eggs||2 Small|
|Vanilla||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together.
Cream shortening; add sugar gradually; beat until light.
Add beaten eggs; blend well; add vanilla.
Combine dry ingredients with creamed mixture.
Roll out dough thin; cut with cookie cutter.
Grease baking sheet.
Bake at 400 degrees for 6-10 minutes.
When cool, frost with yellow icing.
Use tines of small fork to draw lines around edge of cookies.
This simulates the appearance of a straw hat.
