Ingredients
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), softened to room temperature
  Dark brown sugar 1 Pound (1 Box)
  Eggs 3 , lightly beaten
  Sifted flour 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Semisweet chocolate bits/1 package, 5 3/4 ounce milk chocolate bits 6 Ounce (1 Package)
  Coarsely chopped walnuts/Pecans 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Directions

Preheat oven to 350° F.
Cream butter with sugar and eggs until well blended; mix in remaining ingredients in the order listed.
Spread in a greased 15 1/2"x10 1/2"x1" jelly-roll pan and bake 30-35 minutes until top springs back when touched.
Cool upright in pan on a wire rack, then cut into squares.
