This is a simple recipe for gingerbread cookies, you can also decorate them with royal icing.
4 Ounce (1 stick)
3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
1 Cup (16 tbs)
3 1⁄8 Cup (50 tbs), sifted
1 Cup (16 tbs) (Optional)
1)In a mixer or a bowl add the butter, sugar and cream them together until well combined.
2)In another bowl add the egg and mix well. Finally combine with the molasses and vanilla, sifted flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, clove and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mix, until well combined.
3)Combine the mixture into a disc or a square and allow the mixture to thicken by letting it chill for 1-2 hours.
4)Pre-heat oven at 350ºF.
5)Lightly dust your flat work surface with flour and roll the dough about 1 inch thick and cut in a desire shape.
6)Bake about 10 minutes until light brown and take them out on a wire rack to cool.
7)Allow it to cool completely before applying the icing because a warm cookie might melt the icing.
