Buttery Peanut Brittle

Ingredients
  Sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Light corn syrup 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Peanuts 2 Cup (32 tbs) (Skins Removed)
  Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
Directions

Heat and stir sugar, syrup, and 1/2 cup water in large, heavy skillet till sugar dissolves. (Electric skillet 250°.)
When syrup boils, blend in butter.
Stir often after 230° on candy thermometer; add nuts at 280°.
Stir constantly to hard-crack stage (305°).
Remove from heat.
Quickly stir in soda, mixing well.
Pour onto heavy foil.
Stretch thin by lifting and pulling from edges with forks.
Loosen from foil as soon as possible.
Break up.
