|Granulated sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Melted shortening/Salad oil||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , beaten|
|Vanilla extract||1 Teaspoon|
|Sifted all purpose flour||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Cream of tartar||1 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Blend sugar well with shortening.
Stir in beaten eggs and vanilla.
Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt; add to shortening mixture gradually while mixing well.
Chill until easy to handle.
Then turn out onto lightly floured board.
Roll to 1/8" thickness, then cut with floured 3" scalloped cutter.
Arrange cookies on a greased baking sheet, about 2" apart.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar and cinnamon if desired then bake in a moderately hot oven of 375°F for 10-12 min.
