|Filberts||7⁄8 Cup (14 tbs), chopped finely|
1. Beat the egg white stiff, beat in 7/8 cup of the sugar and the nuts. Pat out on a lightly floured board to 1/4-inch thickness.
2. Beat the egg yolk and combine with the rest of the sugar and the vanilla. Spread over the rolled out mixture. Let it stand 10 to 30 minutes, until dry enough to cut in strips.
3. Start oven, set at Moderately Slow, 300° F. Rub a cookie sheet with margarine; sprinkle it with flour.
4. Cut and place the strips on the cookie sheet. Let stand 10 minutes.
5. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
