Raisin Lunch Box Hermits
|Butter||8 Tablespoon, softened|
|Packed brown sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Molasses||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Ground nutmeg||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Raisins||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Walnuts||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs), chopped|
Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly butter a 9-by-13-by-2-inch baking pan.
Beat the butter and sugar in a large bowl until fluffy.
Beat in the egg and then the molasses.
Sift together the flour, spices, baking soda and salt and stir them into the butter mixture.
Fold in the raisins and the nuts.
Spread the batter in the pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the center is still soft but springs back to the touch.
Cool completely and then cut into 24 bars.
Store the bars in an airtight container.
