Old Fashioned Lemon-Vanilla Sugar Cookies

Ingredients
  All purpose flour 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Baking powder 2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Butter 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Lemon extract 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Vanilla 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Milk 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Raisins 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), finely chopped
Directions

Sift flour, measure, then resift with baking powder and salt 3 times.
Cream butter and sugar; add egg, and beat until smooth and fluffy.
Stir in flavorings.
Add dry ingredients in 2 or 3 portions al ternately with the milk beginning and ending with flour and beating well after each addition.
Stir in raisins.
Chill dough and roll out 1/4-inch thick on a lightly floured board.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar and cut with a 2-inch cookie cutter.
Place on greased baking sheet and bake in a moderate oven (375° F.) for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
