|Packed brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Lemon, rind||1 Tablespoon, grated|
|Flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs) (Gold Medal Brand)|
|Cream of tartar||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Granulated sugar||1 Teaspoon|
Heat oven to 350° .
Mix shortening, sugar, and egg thoroughly; blend in lemon rind.
Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting.
Blend dry ingredients; stir into sugar mixture.
Roll in 1" balls; dip tops in granulated sugar.
Bake on ungreased baking sheet 10 to 12 min.
