Cream butter and sugars.
Add egg, lemon peel, molasses and vanilla extract.
Beat until light.
Add flour, soda, salt, oats and raisins.
Shape into a long, smooth roll about 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
Wrap in waxed paper and chill until roll is very firm.
Cut dough into 1/8 inch slices.
Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake at 400° for 8 to 10 minutes.
