Brown Sugar Refrigerator Cookies

Ingredients
  Shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Firmly packed brown sugar 1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)
  Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon
  Egg 1
  Chopped nuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Ground cinnamon 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Ground ginger/Allspice 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Directions

Cream shortening and sugar; add vanilla extract: add unbeaten egg; cream again.
Add nuts and mix well.
Add baking powder, salt and spices to flour; stir into the creamed mixture.
Shape into two long, slender rolls and wrap securely in waxed paper or heavy-duty aluminum foil.
Chill overnight or longer.
Place dough on board and cut into thin slices with a sharp, thin-bladed knife.
Place slices about 1 inch apart on lightly greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 375° for about 12 minutes, or until done.
Remove to wire racks.
