|Granulated sugar||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs), packed|
|Light corn syrup||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Soft butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Pecans/Walnuts / peanuts||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), coarsely chopped|
1. Boil the sugars, syrup, water and salt together until a little of the mixture turns very brittle in cold water (300° F. on a candy thermometer). Stir the mixture only until the sugar is dissolved.
2. Add the butter and soda, stirring only until mixed. Add nuts and pour at once onto a greased heatproof surface. Smooth out and mark into squares or stretch the candy into a thin sheet. Loosen from sheet before it cools and hardens and break into squares or rough pieces.
