|Brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Vegetable shortening||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sifted flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Instant coffee||1 Tablespoon|
|Baking soda||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Raisins||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped|
In mixer bowl, cream together sugar and vegetable shortening.
Add egg; beat well.
Stir in water.
Combine flour, instant coffee, soda, salt, and spices; add to creamed mixture.
Stir in raisins and nuts.
Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375° for 10 minutes.
