Browned Butter Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

The deep nutty flavor from the browned butter, adds a depth to this chocolate chip cookie recipe. You have to make them, we understand that they are Santa's favorite cookies!

Ingredients

Unsalted butter 1 Cup (16 tbs) (((250 mL)))
Bread flour 2 1/4 Cup (36 tbs) (((550 mL)))
Salt 1 Teaspoon
Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
Sugar 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Brown sugar 1 1/4 Cup (20 tbs) (((300 mL)))
Eggs 1
Egg yolk 1
Milk 2 Tablespoon
Pure vanilla extract 1 Tablespoon
Semisweet chocolate chips 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) (((175 mL)))
Dark chocolate chunks 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) (((175 mL)))

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Preheat oven to 375 degree F or 190 degree C.

 

MAKING

2. In a heavy bottomed pan, melt butter over medium flame.  Stir constantly and cook for 5 minutes or until browned. Remove pan from flame and set aside to cool.

3. In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Set aside.

4. In a separate bowl, combine white sugar and brown sugar. Pour the cooled browned butter and beat together until creamy.

5. Add egg, egg yolk, milk and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture and mix until combined.

6. Stir in chocolate chips and chocolate chunks. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill for at least one hour.

7. When chilled scoop approximately 1 tablespoon of dough and roll into a ball. Place onto baking sheets.

8. Pop the baking sheet in oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely on wire racks.
