Pears A La Compote

Ingredients
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Water 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Lime juice/Lemon juice 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Salt 1 Dash
  Pears 4 (Fresh)
  Seeded tokay/Emperor grapes 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Aromatic bitters 1 Dash
Directions

Combine first 4 ingredients; heat to boiling.
Meanwhile, halve pears lengthwise, leaving stem intact, and core (don't pare); add to syrup.
Cover; cook 20 minutes or till tender.
Arrange grapes and pears in dish.
Add bitters to syrup to taste.
Pour syrup over fruits; chill.
