Ingredients Used & Method of Preparation

Iced coffee can be prepared in a number of ways. Some ingredients that are used for preparing this beverage are coffee powder or espresso, sugar, cream, and milk.

The simplest way of preparing this is by chilling hot coffee; however, this method is not generally used because of the bitter taste.

The following is one of the ways to prepare iced coffee:

  • Coffee powder is mixed with water and stirred to make sure there are no clumps.
  • Sugar, if required, is added to sweeten it.
  • This is allowed to stand in room temperature or is refrigerated for a few hours.
  • If too strong, the mixture is diluted with water.
  • It is now poured into a jar with ice cubes.
  • Milk or cream is added as required, and the beverage is stirred.

Health and Nutrition Facts

While coffee can act as a stimulant, the effect of this beverage on health is still being debated. Given that iced coffee can contain cream and milk, it results in a lot of calories being added to one’s diet. Therefore, drinking this on a regular basis can increase the risk of diabetes and heart disease. A healthier version of iced coffee can be made by using low-fat cream, skimmed milk, or soy milk.
