Coffee and Walnut Galette
|Caster sugar/Icing sugar||8 Ounce (plus little extra for dusting)|
|Double cream||3⁄4 Pint|
|Strong black coffee||1 Pint|
|Custard powder||3 Tablespoon|
1.Preheat the oven to 290 degrees.
2.Whisk egg whites so that are firm.
3.Put 1 tablspoon of sugar in it and beat for 30 more seconds.
4.Once done, make a well in the center and using a metal spoon put the remaining sugar in it.
5.Take a forcing bag and put the mixture in it.
6.Pipe an 8 inch circle on the baking sheet.
7.Add a sprinkling of sugar and leave it.
8.Repeat and make more such rounds.
9.Put a walnut half on the top of each meringue and add a sprinkling of sugar.
10.Put the sheet on the shelf so that half is in the oven and the small meringues are below.
11.Bake for 1 hour until brown.
12.For the filling, prepare custard by using black coffee in place of milk.
13.Put sugar as per taste.
14.Stir the custard frequently while cooking.
15.Blend cream and cut the walnuts in pieces.
16.Once the custard is ready and settled at room temperature, put the cream in the center by making a well.
17.Put small meringues around the edge of large round one using whipped cream.
18.Put coffee filling and decorate using lattice of piped cream.
19.Serve in a dish.
