Coconut Dessert is a sweet dish usually made with coconut, milk and sugar. The coconut is either grated, cut into small pieces and in some cases ground in the mixer, depending on the recipe. Coconut Dessert is a sweet dish generally made with either grated, ground or finely cut coconut. Other basic ingredients that go into making any kind of the dessert are milk and sugar. However, milk can be substituted with sweetened condensed milk, in which case sugar can be avoided. In case of baked items, all purpose flour and butter too are used. Coconut Dessert recipes such as Laddu and Barfi are usually prepared by cooking grated coconut in the milk and then sugar added and in some cases sugar syrup is prepared and once it reaches ‘one string’ consistency, the coconut is added. Advantages and Disadvantages
Coconut Dessert has certain advantages as well as disadvantages. The advantage is that since coconut is quite rich in itself, when cooked with milk and other ingredients, it adds a lot of flavor and richness to the dish. However, the disadvantage is that because of the oil coconut desserts tend to spoil fast and do not have a long shelf life.
