Microwave Steamed Clam
|Soft shelled clams||24 (In The Shell)|
|Cold water||3 Gallon|
|Salt||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Water||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Thoroughly wash clams.
In very large kettle or bowl combine 1 gallon water and 1/3 cup salt.
Place clams in the salt-water mixture and let stand 15 minutes.
Repeat salt-water soaking and rinsing twice more.
Place clams in single layer in oven cooking bag set in shallow baking dish.
In 1-cup glass measure heat 1/2 cup water at HIGH for 1 1/2 minutes or till boiling.
Pour over clams in bag; tie loosely with string, leaving an opening for escape of steam.
Cook at MEDIUM (5) for 7 to 8 minutes, turning dish once.
Discard any clams that do not open.
Melt butter in 1-cup glass measure at HIGH for 1 minute.
Meanwhile, loosen clams from shells.
