Baked Cinnamon Pears
|Red european pears/Yellow european pears||6 Medium|
|Lemon juice||1 1⁄2 Tablespoon|
|Butter/Margarine||5 Tablespoon, softened|
|Brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), firmly packed|
|Raisins||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon, ground|
|Nutmeg||1⁄4 Teaspoon, ground|
|Water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Core pears, then pare off a 1/2-inch-wide strip of peel around stem end.
Set pears upright in a 9-inch square baking dish.
Sprinkle with lemon juice.
Thoroughly mix butter, sugar, raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Divide mixture evenly among pear centers, packing in lightly.
Distribute any remaining mixture in clumps in bottom of dish.
Pour water into dish and cover tightly with foil.
Bake in a 400° oven until pears are tender when pierced (35 to 45 minutes).
Serve warm; spoon any sauce remaining in baking dish over pears.
