Simple Sweet and Sour Mango Chutney
|Brown sugar||8 Ounce (250 Gram)|
|Garam masala||1 Teaspoon|
|Chili powder||1 Teaspoon|
|Water||1⁄2 Pint (300 Milliliter)|
|Green mangoes||4 Large, unripe, peeled, stoned and roughly sliced|
1. Place the brown sugar, salt, garam masala, chilli powder, cinnamon and measured water in a saucepan. Stir to mix and bring gently to the boil.
2. Drop in the mango slices, lower the heat and cook, covered, for 5-7 minutes until the mangoes have softened. Remove the saucepan lid and cook for a further 5 minutes or until the syrup has thickened.
3. Spoon the chutney into a bowl to cool. When cooled, transfer to a clean dry jar, cover and refrigerate. This will keep for 1-2 days in the refrigerator.
