Oven Barbecued Chuck Steak
|Vegetable oil||1 Tablespoon|
|Blade steak||2 Pound, patted dry on paper towels (Chuck Steak)|
|Tomato chili barbecue sauce/Purchased barbecue sauce||1 Cup (16 tbs) (Spicy)|
|Onion||1 Large, peeled and thinly sliced|
|Sun chokes||8 Ounce, scrubbed and thinly sliced|
|White mushrooms||6 Ounce, trimmed, wiped, and sliced|
|Black pepper||To Taste|
Preheat your oven to 250Â°F.in a heavy oven proof skillet or casserole, heat the vegetable oil until hot but not smoking.
Add the meat and brown it on the first side, about minutes.
Turn it and brown the second side.
Spread the barbecue sauce over the meat, add the sliced onion, sunchokes, and a liberal amount of pepper.
Cover with foil or a tight fitting lid and place in the preheated oven for about 2 1/2 hours.
Uncover, add the mushrooms, and allow the sauce to thicken for another 20 minutes, basting the meat occasionally.
