Orange Chocolate Chewies
|Flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Margarine/Butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Powdered sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (castor sugar)|
|Granulated sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Grated orange peel||2 Teaspoon|
|Squeezed orange juice||2 Tablespoon|
|Chocolate candy bar/1 cup chocolate chips||1|
Preheat oven to 350Â° F.
Mix flour, margarine and powdered sugar.
Press into ungreased 8x8x2 inch or 9x9x2 inch pan, building up a lip all around.
Bake 20 minutes.
Beat the remaining ingredients until light and fluffy, around 3 minutes.
Remove pan from the oven and place chocolate or chocolate chips in pan.
Chocolate will melt, spread it evenly.
Pour beaten mixture on top and bake for approximately 25 minutes or when no indentation remains when touched lightly.
Check after 20 minutes of baking.
Don't overdo or chocolate will taste bitter.
Lemon or tangerine squares: Follow the same recipe as for the orange chocolate chewies, omitting the chocolate and substituting lemons or tangerines.
Baking time will probably be the full 25 minutes.
