Ingredients
  Shortening 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Packed brown sugar 1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)
  Eggs 2
  Pumpkin puree 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground nutmeg 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground allspice 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground cloves 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Raisins 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Chocolate chips 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Chopped dates 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Chopped nuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

In large bowl, beat together shortening and sugar; beat in eggs, pumpkin and vanilla.
Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, allspice and cloves; stir into sugar mixture.
Stir in raisins, chocolate chips, dates and nuts.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls (5 mL) onto greased baking sheets.
Bake in 350°F (180°C) oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
