Chocolate Chip Cake
|Dates||1 Cup (16 tbs), cut up|
|Hot water||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking soda||1 Teaspoon|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Butter||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Eggs||2 , beaten|
|Flour||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Chocolate chips package||12 Ounce, divided (1 Package)|
|Chopped nuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
Add hot water to dates and baking soda; let stand while preparing rest of cake.
Cream butter and sugar well.
Add eggs, date mixture and dry ingredients which have been sifted together.
Add vanilla and 1/2 cup chocolate chips.
Pour into greased 9x13 pan and sprinkle rest of chocolate chips and 1/2 cup nuts over top.
Bake 40 minutes at 350°.
